OGGS are on a mission to remove the unnecessary and unethical egg products within our food chain, by swapping eggs for OGGS wherever possible. For consumers, food service companies and food manufacturers, swapping to OGGS plant-based egg alternatives, means some of our favourite foods can be a treat for us, chickens, and the planet.
OGGS are a certified B-Corp, and with their range of plant-based egg alternatives and sweet treats, to date OGGS has saved over 8 million eggs, given 1.4 million chickens the week off, and saved enough CO2e to drive around the world 318 times.
For the OGGS team, being able to credibly share carbon footprint comparisons of OGGS against eggs is a critical insight for potential OGGS customers, enabling them to measure the potential carbon footprint reduction if they swap eggs, for the plant based egg alternative in recipes. OGGS previously worked with experts from an accredited carbon mapping consultancy, however found limitations due to the scaling constraints of the manual process, the moment in time nature of the insights and the lack of other environmental impact comparisons beyond carbon. Plus, they couldn’t easily compare products and scale coverage across their growing product range.
OGGS decided to look to the market for a software solution that would solve some of the challenges they faced. By onboarding Sustained Impact, the OGGS team are now able to self-serve product life cycle assessments (LCA) using a mix of their own data, supplemented with defaults from Sustained databases. Prompts within the dashboards provide improvement suggestions that have been helpful to define sustainability projects internally, such as ingredient sourcing. Most importantly, the team themselves can now generate credible comparisons against different kinds of eggs, and map to the different products in their own range. Environmental footprint forecasts have been integrated into new product development, supporting sustainable decision making right from the start of any OGGS products life cycle.
Sustained Impact has provided us with a full and robust picture of our environmental footprint, giving us the ability to share our impact scores with customers, and find opportunities to improve in our own operations. We’re excited to start connecting our Sustained workspace with partners across our value chain, so as an industry we can better reach our climate goals by working together.

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF): Product Carbon Footprint, measures the total greenhouse gas emissions generated by a product, throughout its lifecycle. It is measured in kilogram carbon dioxide equivalents (kg CO2e)
Life cycle assessment (LCA): Life cycle assessment, is a methodology for assessing environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a product’s life cycle. Typically, the life cycle is divided into the following stages; raw materials, production, distribution, use and end-of-life. You can read an introduction to LCA in our blog post.
Carbon Mapping: Carbon mapping is the process of identifying, analysing and representing the carbon footprint of a product across its lifecycle.
Environmental Impact Score: Environmental impact scores are generated by the Sustained Impact platform based on the life cycle analysis of a given product using the PEF methodology.
