How Can I Extract Data from Product Specifications with AI (Beta)?

Import and Validate Product Data from Product Specifications Using AI Assistance

If you have a product specification document that you’d like to use as a starting point, go to the Products tab > New Product and select Import File.

This feature uses AI to extract data from your documents, such as product specifications, ingredient lists, or other related files. Here's how to use it:

  1. Choose the Product Type: Specify whether you’re creating a final, intermediate, or internal product.

  2. Upload a File: Select a file (.pdf, .docx, .json) to upload.

  3. Paste Ingredients: Alternatively, you can paste a list of ingredients directly into the interface by clicking on ‘I want to paste a list of ingredients’.

Once the file is uploaded, the AI engine will begin extracting data, which may take some time as it works through multiple iterations to ensure the best match for the data in the document.

After successful data extraction, a mapping screen will appear for you to review and confirm the accuracy of the data, and fill in any missing information.

The AI will extract the minimum set of required data to create a product, including details such as:

  • Generic product information: name, ID, category, conservation details, etc.

  • Ingredients: amounts and country of origin.

  • Packaging types: amounts and country of origin.

  • Facility countries: production, storage, and consumption location.

Once validated, you will be redirected to the product graph, where you can replace any default data with actual details from your product’s life cycle.
